And in return, he built me up so high, I knew the crash was going to be nothing short of perfection. My legs trembled around his head, the headboard dug into my hands as I clung to it, and my mind went blissfully blank as intense pleasure shot through me. My head dropped back as I came, crying out in a soundless, breathless scream.
As soon as I could manage something basic, like move or remember what planet I was on, I rolled to the side. I could feel Dex shifting, too, but I continued until my feet hit the ground.
I’m not winning any Olympic gold, but I didn’t fall on my face.
Success.
Dex watched me at first, his gaze filled with want and satisfaction as he caught his breath. Only when I picked up my dress did he sit up and reach for me. I barely stepped back in time, his fingertips grazing my thighs.
“Get back into bed,” he ordered, sitting on the side of it, his body tense.
“Can’t. Early day tomorrow.” I slipped the dress over my head, not bothering to try to reach the zipper. “Wouldn’t want to fall asleep during the speakers.”
“Back to bed,” he tried again, his voice firmer.
“Nope.” Taunting the beast, I moved to stand between his legs. Hands on his bitable shoulders, I pushed him back so he was leaning on his arms behind him. I bent lower as I licked from his chest to right above his boxers. After trailing my tongue along the waistband, I stood. “Maybe we’ll do this again tomorrow.”
Dropping his head back, Dex growled his frustration. When he lifted it and met my eyes, one of his hands went into his boxers. Fisting his cock, he stroked a few times with the fabric barrier blocking my view. He tilted his wrist to shove the material out of the way before running his hand along the length again. “Come back to bed, Jade.”
I chewed my bottom lip, fighting against a rapidly building and relentless desire.
Stick to the plan.
Stick to it!
Before I could give in, I reached down and moved his fist, replacing it with my own. His ass came off the bed as I gripped it tightly and stroked up. His grunt was nearly my undoing, but I released him and put his boxers into place before grabbing him again. “Don’t come. I’ll know.” Licking across his lips, I pressed mine to them in a quick kiss. I grabbed my panties and shoes as I headed for the door.
I was unlocking it when he moved in close behind me. The sound of my dress being zipped mixed with the sounds of my deep breathing, both seeming to echo around us in the small space. I jumped a little when his palms hit the door, one on each side of my shoulders. His knees must have been bent because his cock pushed against my ass and his mouth was at my ear. “See you tomorrow.”
Not looking as he stood and backed up, I just nodded as I rushed from the room before I changed my mind. Something snagged my dress, and I looked down to see the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign flutter to the floor. I picked it up and smiled, hanging it back up as I thought about all the uninterpreted fun we’d had.
And what I had planned for the following night.
Taking a thankfully empty elevator four floors up, I headed to my room. I pulled my keycard out of my dress pocket and opened my door, glancing down the hallway to see if I’d been followed.
I was almost disappointed I hadn’t.
Securing the door behind me, I could’ve slid to the floor and slept. My body felt so relaxed, I was practically boneless.
I checked my cell, relieved there were no messages, before undressing and rushing through my nighttime routine.
With a sigh, I flopped onto the bed and rolled until I was in the middle.
Stretching out like a starfish, I fell into a deep sleep.
Chapter Two
Bringing Marshmallows to Hell
Dex
What the hell is she up to?
For the hundredth time that hour, I checked the time. Barely thirty seconds had passed, yet it seemed like days.
I dragged my focus back to the speaker and realized I didn’t recognize any of the graphics he was discussing. Looking down at my iPad, I scrolled through the provided PDF until I found them. I still had no idea what they were in reference to.
Almost immediately, my gaze travelled to Jade. On the other side of the room and a few rows ahead of me, her aisle seat gave me the perfect view of her profile.
A view I’d been admiring more than I should’ve.
Her long brown hair had been pulled up, but after about an hour, she’d removed the clip and shook it out. Every so often, she’d gather it and pull it to the side. It was sexy as fuck, and I looked forward to fisting the soft strands while I was deep inside of her.
We were nearing the lunch break, and I had a plan. She’d spent every break dodging me. I’d see her from across the room, but anytime I’d gotten close, she’d disappeared. Between the glimpses of her and the game we were playing, it was enough to make me embarrassingly hard.
In high heels, black nylons with the line up the back, and a tight black skirt that ended above her knees, her legs and ass were works of art when she walked. Each sway of her hips reminded me of how perfect her ass had fit in my hands while I’d eaten her the night before.
Her white dress shirt and fitted black blazer showed virtually no skin, but also did nothing to hide the curve of her waist and tits. I was surprised the straining buttons on her shirt hadn’t given out, flying across the room.
I was looking forward to making that happen, though.
Jade crossed her legs, and I bit back a frustrated groan. Using the iPad to strategically block my lap, I watched the clock again.
It may have taken a few centuries, but eventually the man wrapped up whatever he’d been talking about. The group was dismissed for lunch, and I was the first out of my chair. When I turned toward where Jade sat, there was no holding in my aggravated growl.
She was gone.
I scanned the room, but there was no sign of her. Even in the crowd, she’d have stood out.
Avoiding the clusters of groups heading to lunch, I made my way into the lobby. When that was Jade-less, too, I took the quick elevator ride up to my room. I knew it was unlikely she’d be waiting for me, but I was still disappointed to find the hallway empty.
Even though I wanted to order a sandwich from room service and avoid everyone at the neighboring restaurant, there was still a chance Jade was with them.
Which meant I was going, too.
***
That was a fresh new hell.
Lunch had been a loud and annoying gathering of people desperate to network, make plans, and get laid.
To connect.
I’d say it bordered on pathetic, but considering why I was there, I had no room to talk.
Entering the conference room, I set my messenger bag on my chair, hoping Jade had her previous one, too.
Not seeing her anywhere, I put my hands in my pockets and strolled out toward the small coffee kiosk. I fixed one, keeping my eyes on the main door.
Maybe she’s blowing off the afternoon.
With four more speakers, each likely to go over their allotted time of forty minutes, the rest of the day was going to drag.
Coffee in hand, I continued my walk into the lobby.
“Only one of us is allowed to leave early,” I heard from next to me. I looked over to see Rhys holding his bag, an unapologetic grin on his face. “And since I’m your boss, that means I win.”
I held up my cup. “Just trying to stay awake.”
“You’re going to need more than that.”
“I didn’t have a gallon jug to fill.”
“Robertson, the Hellsmen speaker, will make you wish you had a trough.” Rhys readjusted the bag on his shoulder. “And, with that, I’m off. Good luck.”
“Tell Macy I said hello.”
His grin grew. “I will.”
If the night before hadn’t already made me start thinking about some heavy shit, Rhys’ changes when it came to Macy sure as hell would have. Though he hadn’t joined in with the party atmosphere, he’d
never driven home, either. And he sure as hell never left early.
He wasn’t the same man he’d been, but that didn’t seem to be a bad thing.
After stopping to refill my coffee, I headed back to my seat, resigned to the fact the afternoon would drag even more so without Jade to look at. When I reached it, however, I saw Jade was also in hers. Her hair was pulled up again, but her blazer hung off the back of her chair. Without her jacket, the strain her tits put on the white shirt was more obvious. I was torn between demanding she put it back on and dragging her from the room.
I was clearly a masochist, because instead of doing either, I sat and waited for her to make her next move.
The next speaker launched in, her topic engaging and well-developed. It should’ve been fascinating, but as I scrolled through the PDF, I wasn’t seeing or hearing any of it.
It’s a good thing my boss is so wildly in love that he’d left early. Otherwise, I’d be in trouble. I might as well be gone.
With Jade.
Locked in my room.
Buried deep inside her.
A window popped up on my iPad, pulling me from my inappropriate thoughts before launching me right back into them.
Jade: You’re not paying attention.
Me: No, I’m not. I’ve got better things on my mind.
Jade: Oh?
Me: Yeah, oh. I’d been planning on discussing them with you during lunch.
Jade: Sorry, had to take care of something.
Even knowing full well I was walking into a trap, curiosity got the better of me.
Me: What thing?
Jade: Reach into the front pocket of your bag, but don’t take it out.
She could lead me to hell, and I’d happily follow with the marshmallows.
Doing as she said, my fingers found soft satin and lace.
Jade: Spending the morning thinking about last night meant I had to go change my panties.
Jade: Of course the ones from last night were ruined, too, so now I just have to go without.
I looked over to see her eyes on me. She bit her bottom lip before facing forward again. Reaching up, she unclipped her hair and shook it out slowly before gathering it over one shoulder.
I clenched my teeth to stifle my groan.
Me: My room. Now.
Jade: No. I want to hear the speakers.
Me: For fuck’s sake, Jade. A man can only take so much torture.
Jade didn’t respond as the speaker began asking questions. Like I was back in school, I slunk in my chair and hoped to avoid being called on because I had no fucking clue what she’d been talking about.
These conferences were an important part of my job and professional growth, but I couldn’t give a flying fuck. I tried for point seven seconds to pay attention before my focus shifted back to Jade.
I wasn’t sure what kind of game she was playing, but I was determined to see it through to the end when we’d both win.
Chapter Three
Food is Loyal to Inner Warriors
Jade
“Say goodbye, Jade.”
Fighting a smile, I looked over my shoulder at Dex. There wasn’t even a hint of humor in his expression. Nor was there anger. Impatience, sure. But mostly it was heat.
Wicked heat that stole my breath in a promise of things to come.
I was looking forward to it. But that didn’t mean I was going to give in easily.
Smiling politely, I shifted to face him and pointed with my thumb behind me to the waiting group. “We were just heading to dinner.”
“And now you’re not.”
I turned away from him again. “But I’m hungry.”
Leaning down so his lips grazed my ear, his voice was rough as he whispered, “So am I.”
Forget the plan.
Teasing Dex all day had been a mix of fun and self-torture. I’d enjoyed seeing him so tense and out of sorts. There was a heady power that came from knowing how much he desired me. But I was just as on edge as he was, ready to go off at a single touch.
My willpower was depleted, and as much as I’d been looking forward to continuing the game over dinner, I didn’t have the strength to fight the pull between us.
I knew my face must have shown my need when he inhaled sharply. “Fuck, Jade.”
Opening my mouth, I was about to give in.
“Callaway,” a man called from behind us. “We need your opinion on something. It’ll only take a minute”
Dex looked ready to give him a four-letter word opinion.
“You better go,” I said when he didn’t move. “I’ll wait.”
“I’m not fucking with you, Jade. You better wait.”
“I will.”
He scowled down at me before turning and following the man back into the conference room. As soon as he was out of sight, I returned to the group and followed as they headed to the restaurant across the street.
I hadn’t known any of the people previously, but had accepted the invitation from a few women I’d been sitting with. They were all nice, but new to the job and more interested in connecting personally than professionally. It made it the perfect way to be there to tease Dex without having to actually interact much.
When we sat at the long table in the restaurant, I took a spot at the end, saving the seat across from me. Conversation buzzed around me, and I chimed in occasionally, but my focus was on waiting for Dex. I began to wonder if he’d stayed back at the hotel, and my disappointment grew.
Maybe he isn’t sure which restaurant I’m at.
Or he’s tied up with something.
Or maybe I overplayed my hand, and he’s sick of the games and teasing.
The extra effort isn’t worth it to him.
After placing my dinner order, I put my elbow on the table and rested my chin in my palm. I tried not to pout, but I’d have rather gotten room service and a good night sleep than spend dinner yelling over the growing noise level to be heard by my eating companions.
At least the people I’d chosen to go out with were nice.
“This is my first time at one of these,” the girl sitting next to me said, leaning closer so I could hear her.
I wasn’t surprised since she looked like she’d just stepped off a college campus.
“They’re very informative,” I said.
“Yeah…” She looked down toward the other end of the table because jerking her head to look straight ahead again. “And there are a lot of attractive guys.”
I thought about Dex. “There are.”
“Since you’ve been to these before… I mean, this is my first real job. And it’s a work function…”
“Yes?” I prompted when her words trailed off. Although I knew some of the young singles hooked up, I wasn’t sure how often it happened. And I certainly wasn’t in the position to give advice about whether it was appropriate.
“We trained together, but now he works at my firm’s main office, so I don’t see him often. I like him and was thinking of giving him my number tomorrow before we leave.”
Oh, thank God. I did not want to encourage, or discourage, a weekend fling.
“Each company has different fraternization policies, but the general opinion seems to be that we’re all adults, and your personal choices are your own. Just be smart about them because, like you said, this is a work function.”
“Thanks.”
When she didn’t move, I tilted my head. “I think it’s safe for you to move to that chair he’s kept empty next to him. His eyes have been on you so much, he’s nearly knocked over his drink three times in the last five minutes.”
“He has?” she asked. At my nod, she straightened her ponytail, stood with her drink, and confidently marched over to him.
I need to tap into that confident inner warrior. If Dex didn’t want to have dinner with me, that’s his loss. It would’ve been fun. And I needed to carbo-load before using inventive ways to burn off the energy. Now he’ll miss out.
There’s no reason for me
to pout.
My dinner was set in front of me just as Dex collapsed in the chair opposite mine. “Oh, good timing,” I said before turning to the server. “Could we please have an extra plate?”
“Jade,” Dex started.
“And a Coke?” I looked at Dex. “Or would you rather a beer.”
“A Coke is fine. Thanks.”
As soon as the server left, Dex glared at me. “I told you to wait.”
“I did.”
“You—”
“Hey, you never said where to wait. I chose to do it here.” I began cutting into my chicken. “With food.”
“But—”
“And I’m glad I did. You were gone more than a minute.”
He ran his fingers through his hair. “Yeah, the conversation devolved into five bickering arguments. I kept trying to get away, but it didn’t work. I’m sorry.”
I held up my fork with a piece of chicken skewered on it. “I made do.”
When the server dropped off Dex’s drink and plate, I shoveled half my food onto his and pushed it across the table to him.
His eyes dropped to the plate before returning to me.
“You’re not going to eat?” I asked.
“Jade, you spent last night working me up to the point where I thought I couldn’t get any harder. And then you spent today proving my theory wrong.”
My attention shot to the rest of the table, and I was relieved to see they were wrapped in their own conversations, oblivious to Dex and I.
Recapturing my focus, Dex’s eyes blazed as he leaned across the table. “All I want to do is take you to my room, bury myself in you, and fuck away the rest of the night. Food is the last thing on my mind.”
I slowly took a bite, chewing and swallowing before speaking. “And you’re going to need your energy. As am I. Hence the food.”
Although his expression didn’t lighten, he picked up his fork and began eating.
It also didn’t change as I joined in the group’s conversation, laughing and ignoring the fact he was sulking.
It did, however, change when I removed my jacket.
And when I rubbed my foot up his calf.
And definitely when I unfastened an extra button on my shirt.
