Sex, Vows & Babies: Do Not Disturb (Kindle Worlds Novella) Page 4

“He totally heard,” Jade said with a little giggle.

  It was fucking cute.

I couldn’t remember the last time I’d heard it.

I shrugged. “I’m sure that isn’t the worst thing he’s heard.”

“You’re probably right.” She pulled her braid over her shoulder and twisted the end. It was a nervous habit she’d had, and one I’d forgotten about. “What were you saying?”

Taking a gulp of my beer, I set it down. “This weekend wasn’t about fucking someone else. This was about fucking Jade. Not my wife. Not the mother of my child. Jade.”

“I love being those other things,” she said, her tone a mix of defensive and hurried, as though I thought otherwise.

“Never doubted it. I just hadn’t realized how much I was seeing you as the separate parts, not as a whole.”

“I did. Realize, I mean. Not about how you saw me, but how I saw myself. Well, and kind of how you saw me.” She gave a little headshake. “Does that make sense?”

“Yeah. And that’s what I’m going to change.” When her lips tipped down, I added, “I’ve never not been attracted to you, Jade. From the very first time I saw you in that pretty pink top, my cock has been at least half hard.”

  “Dex—”

“If I actually think about sinking into your tight pussy, my dick is hard as a rock and I lose my fucking mind.”

Jade’s face turned bright red, and I belatedly realized her interruption had been a warning.

The equally red-faced waiter set down our salads. “Enjoy,” he mumbled before hightailing it away.

“Okay, I’m going to guess that’s the worst he’s heard,” Jade mumbled, but her lips curled up.

“I still doubt it. It’s probably high on the list, though.” I didn’t reach for my silverware, wanting to finish the discussion quickly so we could move on and enjoy the rest of our time together. “You’re the mother of my child, my wife, and my colleague. And one of the mistakes I’ve made is letting those parts of you separate in my mind. I wasn’t always seeing the whole you, and I’m damn sure going to fix that.”

  “You are?”

I nodded. “But you’ve got to know something, baby. There’s never been a time when I wasn’t attracted to you. And there’s never been a time, not even for a second, when I wished I was with someone else.”

Her eyes rolled as she scoffed. “Never?”

“Remember last month when Lilly was sick? Your clothes were stained with juice, popsicles, and soup. And your hair was crazy, plus we’d both barely slept the night before.”

Scrunching her face, Jade grimaced. “I remember.”

“We were in the kitchen when I got home from work, and you were telling me about your day. If I hadn’t been sure you’d rip my dick off for trying, I’d have fucked you on the table. I’d had to untuck my shirt to cover how hard I was.”

“That was the night when you ordered pizza. Actually, you got extra stuff so I wouldn’t have to cook the next day for lunch. I’d have totally let you fuck me on the table.”

I grinned. “Good to know.” My smile faded as I reached across the table, covering her hand with mine. “I’m going to do better at seeing you as more than the individual versions of you. They’re all amazing, but it’s the whole you who’s fucking perfect.”

I was surprised to see Jade blinking back tears. She wasn’t a crier. If the weekend hadn’t already made me realize how badly I’d been fucking up, her expression in that moment would’ve.

  It broke my fucking heart.

“There’s been all this… space,” she said, her voice cracking. “I’m coming, you’re going. You’re coming, I’m going. What time we have is spent with Lilly, which is so important. But we’re both juggling a lot, it’s inevitable things would get dropped along the way. I just realized how often it’s us being left behind.”

Her words gutted me because she was right. One-hundred percent.

“Fuck, Jade,” I whispered. “I’m sorry.”

She swiped at her cheeks as she shook her head and gave a forced laugh. “God, don’t be. I’m being overdramatic. We always take turns being away for work because of Lilly, but I hated the thought of spending another weekend apart. I just miss you, you know? But I’m being silly.”

The waiter returned to drop off my pork and Jade’s chicken marsala before once again running away.

I gave Jade’s hand a squeeze. “No, you’re right.” Sitting back, I tilted my head toward the table. “Eat.”

Our conversation turned light and superficial as we ate. It’d been a while since we’d had the time to talk about whatever we wanted. Usually, we just had enough time to give each other the highlight reel of our day before crashing at night.

Making a lot of noise as he approached, the waiter dropped off the check.

Jade swirled the straw in her drink, glancing up at me quickly before returning her attention to the glass. “We have a good marriage. Like, a really good one. So please don’t think I’m saying I want a—”

“Don’t,” I whispered harshly, my gut feeling like it just took some McGregor jabs. “Don’t even fucking say that word.” Standing, I tossed some bills on the table. “Let’s go.”

Her eyes widened as she looked from her drink to me. “What?”

“Now.” Taking her hand, I helped her stand and walked from the restaurant.

Her unspoken word echoed in my head, competing with the blood rushing in my ears. I opened her car door, making an effort not to slam it closed once she was in.

At one of the conferences the previous year, a speaker had talked about calming methods to combat the stress and high-pressure of the job. I didn’t remember much of what he’d said, but I did recall something about breathing techniques. As I walked to my side of the car, I tried them.

  They didn’t work.

“You okay?” Jade asked as I started the car.

“Yeah,” I said, forcing some softness into my tone.

Driving a couple minutes, I found what I was looking for. The section of warehouses was abandoned and secluded where we wouldn’t be disturbed.

Jade looked around. “What’re we doing?”

“First, we’re going to talk so you never think the word divorce,” I spat as I unbuckled and used the automatic controls to position my seat flat. “Then I’m going to fuck you until you forget the word even exists.”

Her expression was soft bordering on sad as she shook her head. “Dex, I was saying that I don’t want one.”

“Take your panties off and climb on, baby.”

  “Seriously—”

“Now, Jade.” Reaching over, I pressed the button to release her belt.

Wiggling as best as she could, she slid her panties down her legs and kicked them off with her shoe. She hiked up her skirt and maneuvered in the tight space until she was straddling me. Despite her sigh of exasperation, her lips were parted as she shifted against me.

“Change of plans,” I murmured roughly as I undid my pants, pushing them down enough to free myself. Gripping her hips, I lifted Jade and lowered her onto my cock.

My grunt mixed with her sweet moan as I filled her.

Holding her tight to me, I stopped her from moving. “Marriages don’t have to be bad to end. That space? That’s the shit that grows until there is no connecting again.”

She tightened around me. “I’m feeling pretty connected right now.”

“Damn fucking straight,” I groaned, moving her up and down my length before stopping. “And I’m gonna work my hardest to make sure you always do. If you feel that space again, you tell me. It’s not silly or dramatic.”

“Okay,” she whispered, her lips parting again as she rocked against me.

“I mean it, baby. I fucked up. Mother of my child, colleague, wife, yeah. But you’re also a woman. Mine. Never in our time together have I fucking forgotten it. But I need to make sure I’m showing you.” Going as flat on my back as I could, I lifted her up. I raised my hips as I slammed her d
own. “And I’m starting now.”

Moving as well as I could in the limited space, I fucked her.

And with wild abandonment, my Jade fucked me right back.

“Rub my clit,” she panted, her smooth rhythm becoming jerky and uneven. Her tits bounced in her dress as she rode me hard.

I stretched my thumb to her clit, rubbing it while using my hands to control her movements.

Jade’s head fell forward and her hand went to my chest, right over my heart. She looked down at me through lowered lids, her gaze unfocused. Crying out, her moans echoed around us as she came.

“Fuck, baby,” I grunted, my own orgasm coming out of nowhere to knock my ass off the face of the earth. If there was a heaven, I was floating near it when I heard Jade’s soft giggle.

“Did I fuck you into a coma?” she asked, dropping her body to mine and kissing my jaw.

“Mmm,” was all I could mumble as I palmed the back of her head, holding her to me. My other hand rubbed up and down her spine.

We stayed like that for a few minutes, nothing but the sounds of our breathing filling the car.

“Dex, we’ve got to go.” She tried to sit up, but I held her in place.

  “In a minute.”

Shifting her head, she licked and then kissed my jaw again. “Now that your parents live close enough to watch Lilly, we can do this more often.”

  “Fuck yeah we can.”

She giggled, and my cock jerked, starting to harden. “I meant go out to dinner. But this, too.” She sat up, and this time I grudgingly let her. “Lilly is loving having grandma and grandpa so close. If the fact they’ve doubled her toys and wardrobe is any indication, they feel the same.”

“I can do without the dead garden scents. Flower name doesn’t mean she has to smell like one.”

“Agreed. But, honestly, Dex, you should’ve heard your mom squeal when I asked if she’d watch Lilly for the weekend. You’d think I told her she was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar.”

  “She probably felt like it.”

When Lilly was born, my parents had taken one look at her and decided they needed to be closer. As soon as Dad had retired a few months before, they’d sold the house and moved a few states away from everything they knew to be where Jade and I had settled. They’d lucked into a house in a development of mostly older people. Dad loved the built-in golf and poker buddies. Mom wasn’t as big of a fan, but she loved being a fifteen-minute drive away from Lilly. A whole weekend with her, plus the trust Jade had shown, must’ve meant the world.

Spearing my fingers into Jade’s hair, I used my hold to pull her down and take her mouth. When my self-control was razor thin, I broke away. “Coming up to me and introducing yourself as Jade was perfect because it’s just you for me. It’s always been you.” My lips curled up in a smirk. “But if I start to mess up again, feel free to fuck some sense into me.”

“Deal,” she said, grinning. Her perfect ass hit the horn as she moved, nearly kicking me in the face in the process. “Ow, leg cramp.” She rubbed her sexy calf. “We’re getting too old for things like car sex. I think we’re supposed to only have sex in bed. And only on special nights, like birthdays and anniversaries.”

“I’m not okay with just the bed part, but the rest is fine.”

Her eyes went wide, a mix of shock and outrage. “What?”

I shrugged. “Everyday is someone’s birthday or anniversary. You didn’t say it had to be ours.”

  “You know what I meant.”

“Jade, you try any of that, and I’ll start every morning eating you for breakfast but not letting you come. I’m already planning some special lunches in my office, and those will end the same way until you’re begging me to fuck you.”

  “In your office?”

When we started working together, we made the agreement that we’d remain professional at the office so we didn’t risk our jobs. Since Rhys met Macy, however, things were different. It still wouldn’t be an everyday thing, because that would turn into an every hour thing, but the idea of having Jade on my desk had me looking forward to work the next day.

  “Your office, too,” I added.

“That isn’t the deterrent you think it is,” she muttered as she adjusted her dress. “You’ll have to come up with something bad.”

I started the car and put it in drive before resting my hand on her thigh. “If it involves you and me, nothing can ever be bad, baby.”

  Jade

  Six Months Later

Adjusting my dress, I scanned the conference room until I found him. His eyes were already on me as he leaned back in his chair.

  Waiting.

There was no surprise in his expression this time, only anticipation with a hint of amusement.

Although we’d come together, I hadn’t talked to him since we’d walked into the hotel. I’d sat with my work team during the presentations, but my gaze had often travelled to him.

Turning away to pack my stuff at the end of the day, I bent to lift it when a hard body pressed close to my back. A muscular arm reached around me to grab my bag before standing. I spun around, though he didn’t step away, forcing me to crane my neck to look up at him.

I opened my mouth but he spoke first saying, “Dex.”

Fighting a smile, I met his outstretched hand. “Jade.”

  “Wanna get out of here?”

Remembering his words from six months prior as if he’d just spoken them moments ago, I whispered, “More than I want my next breath.”

  DEX

Walking toward the elevator, I watched the sway of Jade’s ass in her tight dress. When she’d told me we’d both be able to attend the conference again, I got the feeling my mischievous wife had something planned.

Little did she know, I did, too.

Timing things around the conference had been tricky. Rhys had told me to just have her skip the last few presenters, but I hadn’t wanted to raise her suspicions.

My toes tapped impatiently as we waited for the elevator. The doors opened and we followed the waiting group in. Pushed to the side, I leaned close to her and stroked down her back to her ass. I cupped it, using my hold to keep her pressed against me.

Reaching our floor, we stepped out and walked down the long hallway. When we stopped in front of our room, Jade surprised me by turning around.

“I’ve been thinking about this all day,” she whispered, clutching my shirt as she went up onto her toes. Her body pressed against me as much as it could.

“Been thinking about it for the past six months, baby,” I growled, partially out of frustration.

Her tongue ran along my jaw, and my growl turned into a groan. She leaned into me, her face upturned as she waited for me to kiss her.

What the fuck was I thinking?

Cursing my good intentions, I reached behind her and opened the door. My hands moved to grip her hips, turning her carefully.

“Welcome,” someone said in a soothing voice from inside the room. The scent of vanilla and blackberries wafted out into the hallway, accompanied by mellow music.

“What’s going on?” Jade asked, stepping in.

A man and a woman were waiting next to two different looking tables. I had no real desire to get a massage, but knew Jade wouldn’t have gone along with it otherwise. She’d frequently mentioned wanting one, but thought she’d feel awkward if it were just her. And since me watching her getting rubbed down by another woman was high on the creep factor, I was willing to go along if it meant she got the relaxation she more than deserved.

“There are robes in the bathroom,” the man said, gesturing to the side. “Please undress to whatever state you feel most comfortable.”

Jade just nodded before turning to stomp into the bathroom. She remained quiet until I closed us in. “What did you do?” she asked, her tone accusing. “You messed up my plans to seduce you!”

  “Jade, baby, you never need
a plan to seduce me. You never need to do anything more than be who you are.” I wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her to me as much as I could.

“You already put a stop to separate rooms—”

“Fuck yeah, I did. I didn’t like sleeping apart from you last time. I’m not doing it again.”

  “But—”

Grabbing her zipper, I tugged it down and stepped away to begin undressing. “You want to starfish on the bed. I heard your argument a million times. But you can’t sleep like that anyway. Even if you stretch out on your side, you’ll take up less than half the bed. We’re good.”

Jade sighed as she slipped her dress off. “It’s just a nice treat to not have tiny, cold feet pressed against my back… or face.”

I removed my shirt before undoing my belt and pants. “Lucky for you, my feet are neither cold nor tiny.”

Her lips curled into a wicked smile as her gaze lowered to my exposed boxer briefs. “Yeah, lucky for me nothing about you is.”

  “Don’t start.”

Tilting her head to the side, she looked up at me with doe-eyed innocence, but I knew better. “What?” In just heels, panties, and a bra, she spun around and pulled her hair over her shoulder, glancing over at me. “Please?”

I didn’t move toward her as I stretched my arm out to unhook her bra. If I got any closer, I’d be scrapping all my plans for the night.

Which, as I watched her slowly slide her bra off, her back bare and her rounded ass peeking out of her panties, didn’t seem like such a bad idea.

I could fuck her hard and fast against the wall. Or bent over the tub. Maybe all the towels and robes would be enough cushion from the hard tile.

But then someone else would hear her moan and come.

  That’s for me.

  Only mine.

“Shoes off and robe on, Jade,” I ordered.

“Fine.” Her bottom lip was pushed out in a pout as she pulled it on.

Securing my own robe, I moved behind her before she could tie hers and pushed it open so it hung at her sides. Looking in the mirror, I saw the tips of her full tits peeking out past the fabric. My hands ran along the curve of her rounded belly. “You’re working nonstop.” I kissed her neck, moving my jaw so the rough stubble tickled her the way she liked. “Even when you sleep, you’re working to grow my baby. You deserve someone else taking care of you.”
